Fieldprint Platform

The Fieldprint Platform® is a pioneering assessment framework that empowers brands, retailers, suppliers and farmers at every stage in their sustainability journey, to measure the environmental impacts of commodity crop production and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in U.S. agriculture.

The Fieldprint Platform enables the analysis of sustainability outcomes of 17 crops: alfalfa, barley, chickpeas, corn (for grain and silage), cotton, dry beans, dry peas, fava beans, lentils, lupin, peanuts, potatoes, rice, sorghum, soybeans, sugar beets, and wheat.

Farmers can access this free and confidential tool through our online Fieldprint® Calculator or through associated farm-management software that integrates the Platform’s metrics and algorithms. For assistance in utilizing these resources, please view the Fieldprint Platform Support Website. Brands, retailers and suppliers can access aggregated data from farmers who opt-in to participate in their Fieldprint Projects, following the Fieldprint Project Standard.

How Does It Work?

Management information entered into the tool is analyzed and transformed into a Fieldprint® Analysis, which graphically represents the sustainability performance of a farmer’s unique operation.

This free, online tool helps growers voluntarily and securely analyze how their management choices impact natural resources and operational efficiency.

The Fieldprint Analysis estimates field level performance on the following sustainability indicators:

  • Biodiversity
  • Energy Use
  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  • Irrigated Water Use
  • Land Use
  • Soil Carbon
  • Soil Conservation
  • Water Quality

The Fieldprint Platform is simple to use, though the technology behind it is very complex. The Platform uses datasets and methodologies developed by multiple sources, including USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Fieldprint Project Administrators can access resources to help them on their journey, including the Fieldprint Project Standard, a Goal and Objective Setting Quick Start Guide, Guidance for Submitting a Fieldprint Project Claim, and the Fieldprint Platform Data Checklist, in the Member Portal.

The Fieldprint Analysis shown above plots the sustainability performance for a farmer’s selected field on a spidergram. Lower values closer to the center indicate greater resource use efficiency or sustainability performance.
