Primient Sustainable Corn Project

Innovation
Complete Project

The goal of the partnership between Primient and Land O’Lakes Truterra is to advance sustainable agricultural practices on acres equivalent to the global annual corn procurement volume (1.2 million acres). This project seeks to address local natural resource concerns and demonstrate year-over-year improvement on key performance indicators including: Field to Market's Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Soil Carbon, Wind Erosion, and Soil Conservation metrics; as well as, Nitrogen Use Efficiency, Conservation Practices Deployed and "Truterra Insights Score."

Objectives

Third Party Verified

In 2020, 1,804 enrolled growers participated and analyzed their data through the Truterra Insights Engine with support from Truterra, its networks of ag retailers, and in some cases conservation agronomists and NGOs.

Total acres enrolled: 1.42 million, 1.09 million retained acres from 2020.

The enrolled acres remain representative of Tate & Lyle's total global corn procurement in 2021, but fell short of the 1.5m acre goal.

Data was released on 1.31 million acres due to pending end user licensing agreements and removal of acres that were participating in a carbon market.

Second Party Verified

In 2020, 1,848 enrolled growers participated and analyzed their data through the Truterra Insights Engine with support from Truterra, its networks of ag retailers, and in some cases conservation agronomists.

TREND CLAIM

  • Greenhouse Gas emissions were reduced by 2%; the equivalent of removing 2,430 cars from the road.
  • Soil quality has improved as measured by the Soil Conditioning Index, while soil erosion was reduced by 1%
Second Party Verified

2019 results have been updated as grower privacy agreements have been signed and data released. 1.24 million were enrolled in the program in 2019-2020 and are referred to as re-enrolled/retained acres. Retained Acre Results: 2019: 1,030 lb/acre/year 2020: 1,010 lb/acre/year Volume Proxy Data was collected on the full 1.5m acres, however data release is pending privacy agreements on 100k acres. Volume proxy data is provided for 1.4m acres. 2019: 1,000 lb/acre/year 2020: 1,020 lb/acre/year

Second Party Verified

In 2020, Truterra documented the adoption of 12,923 conservation practices as applied across the total 1.5M acres of enrolled cropland.

Second Party Verified

In 2019, Truterra documented the adoption of 13,712 conservation practices as applied across the total 1.38M acres of enrolled cropland.
