Field to Market Releases Independent Assessment of Fieldprint Platform against the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture® released a third-party assessment report evaluating how its farm level sustainability assessment tool, Fieldprint Platform® Version 5, maps to the requirements of the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard (LSRS), which takes effect January 1, 2027. Conducted by Grow Well Consulting, this third-party analysis provides Field to Market's nearly 200 member organizations with a transparent, technically rigorous resource to understand how Fieldprint Platform data and methods can support their greenhouse gas accounting and reporting goals under the highly anticipated standard.

The LSRS, released by the GHG Protocol in January 2026, establishes new requirements for how companies account for land-based emissions, removals, and land use change across their operations and supply chains. As members work to understand how these requirements intersect with their existing measurement and reporting programs, Field to Market commissioned this independent assessment to give members the factual foundation they need to plan effectively.

The report evaluated the Fieldprint Platform against seven core topic areas defined by the LSRS: system boundary and completeness; quantification methods; uncertainty; additionality and baseline; permanence and reversals; monitoring and verification; and reporting and disclosure. Across Scope 3 corporate inventory reporting, the primary use case for most Field to Market members, the Fieldprint Platform was found to substantially or fully meet the majority of requirements, with a particular strength in its science-based quantification methods, multi-year tracking capabilities, and transparent, open-source methodology documentation developed through Field to Market's consensus-based governance process.

"Field to Market members are navigating a rapidly evolving reporting landscape, and we aim to provide clear, credible information to help them better understand and interpret emerging requirements," said Carrie Vollmer-Sanders, President of Field to Market. "This report is grounded in independent analysis, developed through the kind of transparent process our alliance is known for. It reflects our commitment to meeting members where they are and giving them the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions."

"As the industry prepares for new reporting requirements like the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard, this report confirms that the Fieldprint Platform is well-positioned to meet these requirements," said Jack Scott, Vice-President of Sustainable Sourcing, Nestlé." It provides the field-level data and robust methodology our supply chain needs to respond with confidence. What sets it apart is the consensus-based, transparent process behind its development, which helps ensure alignment across supply chain partners on how agricultural sustainability outcomes are measured and reported."

For grower organizations and their farmer members, the report underscores that the Fieldprint Platform continues to provide the field-level data infrastructure that supports both farm-level decision-making and the supply chain sustainability programs that create market opportunities for producers.

"Illinois corn farmers are already generating field-level data that, as this report shows, has value well beyond their own operation," said Greg Goodwin, Director of Precision Conservation Management, Illinois Corn Growers Association. "What matters to farmers is that the data they are already collecting can serve multiple purposes without adding new burdens. This report helps show that the investment farmers and their advisors are making in measurement supports their operation, their supply chain partners, and the broader reporting landscape."

About the Fieldprint Platform®
The Fieldprint Platform® is Field to Market's farmer-facing measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) framework. Built on open-source, peer-reviewed methods co-developed by Field to Market's cross-sector membership, the platform enables farmers and their advisors to measure environmental outcomes across eight indicators, including greenhouse gas emissions, soil carbon, water quality, water use, land use, and biodiversity, and supports supply chain partners in tracking progress toward sustainability and regenerative agriculture goals. Version 5, released in September 2025, includes updated GHG and soil carbon indicators aligned with the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard and IPCC guidelines.
