Welcome to the Trial Fieldprint Calculator-a tool for learning about how your operations relate to sustainability outcomes.
A note about this Version: This trial version is being released to gather feedback from growers and make future versions more useful. (You will be given this opportunity after completing your answers). As we incorporate your feedback we will also be adding tools to provide a more complete picture of sustainability outcomes, including water quality, biodiversity, and socio-economic considerations. Further, we are still learning a lot about the relationships between agricultural practices and sustainability outcomes. The tool will continue to incorporate the best available information about these impacts as it evolves. For example, there is a recent debate on how much carbon is stored in conventional tillage systems. At this time, the calculator only assigns credit for no-tillage systems, and refinements will be made as additional studies are published. Step 1
You can get started right away by selecting where your farm is located and selecting your crop or crops during the 2008 growing season. Click on the 'Start The Trial' button now.
In a future version, returning visitors will be able to log in and see their results from the previous entry.
Step 2
Next, complete the questions for each crop. When answering the questions, please choose one SPECIFIC field that represents typical conditions on your farm. For example, a field that has: 1) a production practice that is predominant on your farm (if irrigated, select irrigated); and 2) yield levels representative of your operation (not the "best" or "worst" field)

View your results, and provide feedback. Future versions will allow you of option of saving your results so you can track your sustainability over time.
